Appearance
Adult moth : Medium sized, with white wings and triangular brown and red markings on fore-wings. Larvae : creamy white in early instars, 18-20mm long and light pink when fully grown.
Life Cycle
Eggs (80-120), creamy white, laid singly on the underside of leaves, green stems, flower buds. Larvae undergo five instars in about 9-28 days, then pupate for 6-27 days in tough cocoons inside stems or fruit before emerging as adults.
Notes
Serious pest of brinjal : larvae bore into tender shoots, flower buds or fruit, with a single larva destroying as many as 4-6 fruits.
